Kaempferia galanga Linn. is the rhizome of Kaempferia galanga, a genus of the ginger family. The rhizome is tuberous, solitary or several connected, light green or greenish-white, aromatic; distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Taiwan and other provinces and regions, cultivated. The rhizomes of kaempferia are aromatic and stomachic, with the effect of dispersing cold, dispelling dampness, warming the spleen and stomach, and warding off bad vapors, and can be used as a flavoring spice.
